Dear Club Member,

We are now about six weeks away from the Lifeline 100 Bicycle Event and we still need volunteers. We have a critical need for two people to staff the Century route water stops, and we need at least 14 additional volunteers for the other rest stops, especially the BWI/Dixon and Crofton Park locations.

Please volunteer. This is a great way to give back to the cycling community, promote the club, and get to know your fellow members.

We thank the club members who have already volunteered!

This year’s Lifeline 100 will take place on Sunday October 5, 2025! The Lifeline 100 showcases Anne Arundel County’s scenic trails and roadways, teaches cycling awareness, safety and its benefits, and has grown every year to draw hundreds of cyclists and supporters from around the Mid-Atlantic.

The event raises funds to support local non-profits, including the Crisis Response System, Anne Arundel Food Bank, and BikeAAA. It is expected to draw 1,000 riders this year. ABC has been a major contributor to its success since the first Lifeline 100 in 2014.

ABC members staff the four major rest stops for the Lifeline century and metric routes. This is the primary opportunity for us to give back to the cycling community, supporting BikeAAA’s advocacy on behalf of cyclists, and to help promote our Club.

We need about 35 volunteers to staff the four major rest stops and the Century Route water stops:

o   Bay Ridge Swim Club - Joe Hawkins, Captain

o   Crofton Park - LJ Reiter, Captain

o   Dixon Observation Area (at BWI) - Tina McDermott, Captain

o   Galesville Wharf waterfront park - RJ Marquette, Captain

o   Water Stops: We need a pair of volunteers to handle two water stops to support riders on the Century Route. The locations are on Rutland Road by the Route 50 overpass and at Davidsonville Park pavilion.

o   Rest Stop Support: We need a volunteer to support the Crofton and BWI rest stops, this involves some driving and shopping for ice, water, and food items at grocery stores (expenses reimbursed).

Please volunteer by contacting the ABC Lifeline volunteer coordinator, Jim Black, either by e-mail at JamesMBlack@iCloud.com, or 202-320-7932, or contact at a club ride.

Please let us know if you're flexible to work at any rest stop, or whether you prefer to work at a particular rest stop. The event date is Sunday, October 5, 2025.

NEW! - You may register on line as well and Jim will contact you.

Thank you !
