Something a little different today! Several of us are doing the Ride Across Maryland and want to get a longer ride in preparation. This route starts at the Sands Road Park and heads south to Lower Marlboro, before wandering over to Chesapeake and North Beach, then back via Deale.
The main route is 75 miles, but we have a shorter option that is 64 miles.
Start location: Sands Road Park, 4900 Sands Rd, Harwood, MD 20776
Routes and ride leaders:
* 75 mile route - RJ Marquette
* 64 mile route - Chris Farrell
Weather: 60s and 70s, light wind.
Pace: Given the distance, this isn't likely to be a super fast ride. 16-17 mph likely.
Planned rest stops: Bowen's Grocery in Huntingtown and Chesapeake Market & Deli in North Beach. (Others as needed.)
Note - the routes do NOT intend to detour on to any weird side roads - RWGPS has been bad about it lately. For example, try making a route along Route 2 - it'll draw it on every side road imaginable, including ones that would require crossing Route 2 twice. I've reviewed the routes to try to catch these, but if a turn seems odd to you, double check that it isn't something like this.
Route changes: Please let RJ know of any concerns about the route prior to Saturday, so that everyone can have the correct route in their computers. We'll only change the route Saturday for serious issues, like weather, road construction, illness, mechanical issues, and similar concerns.
